Our Costs

We understand it’s difficult to know how much things should cost. Most people come to us with a rough idea of what they’d like but no real sense of what’s realistic for their budget. That’s completely normal.

The honest answer is that garden design costs vary depending on a few things. The size of your garden is the obvious one, but it’s not the whole picture. What matters just as much is the complexity of the design - a sloping site needs more engineering thought than a flat one, and a garden with poor access for machinery will take longer to build. Soil conditions play a part too. Heavy clay (which we see a lot across East Yorkshire) can mean more ground preparation before anything goes in.

Then there’s what you actually want from the space. A full transformation with new paving, structures, lighting and planting is a different to refreshing the borders with a new planting plan. Both are worthwhile — they’re just different scales of project.

To give you a sense of the range, here’s what we typically see across our projects:

Planting only projects: from £3,500 to £15,000+ — this cost range often covers the design, cost of plants and planting service. We start by understanding the space and designing or tweaking the planting beds. We select every plant, position it precisely, and provide a full schedule with maintenance notes. This is ideal if your hard landscaping is already in good shape but the planting has lost its way or not been considered. Costs vary dependent on maturity and choices e.g. a scheme focussed more on perennials and grasses will cost less than a scheme that features more mature trees or screening.

Mid range garden designs: £25,000 to £50,000+ — this cost range often covers a full transformation of most suburban gardens e.g. design, hard landscaping, materials, planting and lighting. Of course, it will depend on scope, the site, final material choices and bespoke features but most "new builds" and small or medium projects fall within these figures, roughly. 

Larger projects: £50,000 to £150,000+ — high-end and bespoke, multiple zones, level changes and a bigger scale. Larger projects tend to run over several months and involve close collaboration with landscapers and, where needed, structural engineers. These rough figures cover design, hard landscaping (often the biggest investment) and planting. 

Every project is different, our design fee will always be proportionate to ensure we add value to your project. 

Our design fee covers the thinking, the planning, and the expertise that turns a rough idea or inspiration into a garden that actually works and can be built.

That includes the initial consultation, a detailed site assessment, concept designs with mood boards, developed 3D visuals so you can see exactly what your garden will look like, full planting plans, and technical construction drawings that your landscaper will build from.

The build cost is separate. That’s the money you spend with the landscaper on materials, labour, plants, and construction. We help here too — we’ll assist you in getting quotes from trusted landscapers we’ve worked with before and make sure the build matches the design.

We charge fixed fees, not hourly rates. 

You’ll know exactly what you’re paying before work begins, and that figure won’t change unless the scope of the project does. No surprises.

We’re MAPL accredited through the Association of Professional Landscapers, members of TrustMark, and registered with the Horticultural Trades Association. That accreditation matters because it means we’re held to a professional standard that protects you.
